href=\"https:\/\/engineering.wisc.edu\/departments\/electrical-computer-engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electrical and computer engineering <\/a>at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, ECE PhD student Abhishek Bhattacharyya and alumnus Abhijith Somashekhar (MSECE &#8217;21), received the best paper award at the 49th ACM\/IEEE International Symposium on Computer Architecture held in New York City in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"525759\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #525759;\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/engineering.wisc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Abhijith-Somashekhar-copy-250wx300h-jpeg.webp\" alt=\"Abhijith Somashekhar\" class=\"wp-image-68223 not-transparent\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Abhijith Somashekhar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning paper is titled \u201cNvMR: Non-Volatile Memory Renaming for Intermittent Computing.\u201d It addresses the significant challenges in building ultra-low-power processors for battery-less Internet-of-Things devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m very proud of my students,\u201d says San Miguel. \u201cThey deserve so much recognition for
