Ogras<\/a>, the Gene Amdahl Professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.wisc.edu\/departments\/electrical-computer-engineering\/\">Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering<\/a> at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/content\/dam\/ieee-org\/ieee\/web\/org\/about\/fellows\/fellow-committee\/2025-fellows-class-announcement.pdf\">been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)<\/a> for his contributions to research into networks-on-chip for heterogeneous manycore architectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IEEE is the world\u2019s foremost professional association for advancing technology for humanity. With more than 400,000 members from 160 countries, the association is a leading authority in a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IEEE fellows comprise the top one-tenth of one-percent of the total membership, an honor bestowed by the IEEE board of directors only to researchers with outstanding records of accomplishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ogras\u2019s research focuses on energy and computational efficiency. To that end, his lab explores a wide range of areas, including developing methodology and tools to design flexible hybrid electronics and human-machine communication to improve technologies including prosthetic arms, wheelchairs and IoT devices. He also focuses on the development of multiprocessor systems-on-chip and state-of-the-art mobile platforms. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Umit Y.
